The prime grade INOX produced by some standards such as ASTM (US), JIS (Japan), DIN (EU) is accurate in tolerance of sizes, flatness, hardness, and extension elongation.
In the other hand, the secondary grade INOX not attained the standards above (ASTM, JIS) is obviously classified to the cheaper one. Therefore, it may have been wrong at thickness, finishes, hardness, width…
There is not certain standardization in magnetic field of stainless steel. Sometimes, amongst a pack of the goods there are some INOX 304 wires, pipes which are magnetic or not.
Magnetic field and content of Nickel do not affect the corrosion resistance of INOX steel which depends on content of Chromium. The many more content of Chromium there are, the better of corrosion resistance it is. Although INOX 403 (16% Chromium) is magnetism, it is cheaper and corrosion resistance better than INOX 201 (13% Chromium).
The usual thickness tolerances are +/-5% or +/-10% of coil, sheet, plate, and strip. If there is not any special dealing, factories and DongA will have rights to deliver a certain INOX coil 0.27mm to 0.33mm for an order of 0.3mm and so on.
The marginal and extension elongation, flatness, brightness finishes, deep punched ability do not only depend on the material itself but it is also affected by the machining way of customers (organoleptic evaluation, stress relieving accessories, devices and workmanship in stainless steel punching).
